Basic information:

An alcohol burner is an essential combustion device that provides low to medium heat. It is used for heating by boiling, sterilizing with a flame, or destroying microorganisms on scientific equipment in laboratories, using liquid alcohol as fuel.

• General Heating: Used for boiling or heating beakers/flasks/test tubes.
  
• Flame Sterilization: Used for burning and destroying microorganisms on various equipment.

Storage Instructions:

• Wash thoroughly after each use.
  
• Keep away from acid fumes to prevent rust or deterioration.

• Refilling: Do not fill the alcohol lamp completely. The appropriate amount is to fill it to about 2/3 full, which is the spill point when ignited. Avoid refilling while the lamp is still burning or retaining heat.
• Proper Extinguishing: "Do not blow on the fire," as this may spread the fire or cause alcohol to splash onto your face and eyes. The correct method is to apply the cap (lid) directly over the carbon dioxide to cut off the oxygen, safely extinguishing the fire.
• Igniting: In China, alcohol lamps were not typically lit directly from another lamp by tilting them. Because alcohol could spill and spread directly onto hands, always use matches or lighters to light each lamp.
• Igniting: This will cause a larger flame. If forceps are used to pull the wick, release a small flame (caution: the fire is extinguished). If the wick is burnt black and too short, replace it.
